Job summary

Consult in Michigan seeks a Research Scientist to join an R&D lab focused on advanced materials characterization, imaging and biomaterials research. The role is hands-on, requiring operation of state-of-the-art imaging equipment and independent work with shared facilities.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in a relevant field and hands-on experience with TEM/STEM or MicroCT/NanoCT, along with data analysis and imaging quality control. On-site, full-time opportunity.

Qualifications

• PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Biomaterials or Oral Health Sciences required or related discipline.
• 2+ years' relevant research experience preferred; MS with substantial imaging experience considered.
• Strong hands-on experience with TEM/STEM or MicroCT/NanoCT.
• Experience with specimen preparation, imaging acquisition and quantitative data analysis.
• Understanding imaging artefacts, reconstruction, segmentation and experimental controls.
• Experience working with hard, brittle, mineralised or biological specimens.
• Independent experience using major shared-facility instrumentation.
• Additional experience in SEM, FIB, EDS, electron diffraction, Raman, FTIR, XRD, SAXS/WAXS, NanoSIMS, nanoindentation or atom probe tomography is advantageous.
• Experience with enamel, dentin, bone, biomaterials, biomineralisation or remineralisation would be relevant.

Job description

Location: Michigan | Full-time | On-site

We are looking for a Research Scientist to join a growing R&D laboratory focused on advanced materials characterization, imaging and biomaterials research.

This is a hands-on role suited to a scientist with a strong academic background and practical experience operating advanced imaging and characterization equipment.

Key Requirements:

• PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Biomaterials, Oral Health Sciences or a related discipline.
• 2+ years' relevant research experience preferred. MS candidates with substantial independent imaging experience will also be considered.
• Strong hands-on experience with TEM/STEM or MicroCT/NanoCT.
• Experience with specimen preparation, imaging acquisition and quantitative data analysis.
