Job summary

RENCI at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a Research Project Manager to support complex, federally funded projects and coordinate with UNC campus units. The role involves planning, budgeting, and ensuring quality of deliverables while collaborating with leadership.

You will manage day-to-day project operations, track milestones, and engage staff to meet goals, with emphasis on communication and strategic problem-solving.

Qualifications

• Ability to independently draft project plans, milestones, deliverables and timelines.
• Lead complex project initiatives, develop and implement program strategies.
• Proven ability to lead technical conversations and collaborate with teams.
• Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence), GitHub and Monday.com.

Responsibilities

• Project planning and lifecycle oversight for one or more projects.
• Schedule and run effective meetings; track deliverables and status.
• Identify risks and develop mitigation plans; ensure sponsor requirements.
• Prepare reports and maintain SOPs; manage project documentation.
• Engage internal and external stakeholders to drive outcomes.
