Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a qualified professional to contribute to analysis of opportunities and independently manage project implementations. You will mentor research staff, design and monitor projects including budgets, and help educate internal and external teams.

Ideal candidates will possess strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to work in a matrixed environment and occasionally travel for community-based research activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, education, communications, or related field. In lieu of Bachelor’s, an Associate’s degree/college Diploma/Certificate with at least 3 years of experience OR HS Diploma with 5 years of clinical research coordination may be considered.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving and work organization skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work independently in a matrixed environment.

Responsibilities

Contributes to the analysis of internal and external opportunities related to operating goals. Independently manages some or all of the implementation of assigned projects and outreach initiatives. Serves as an expert resource and mentors other internal/external research project personnel. Trouble shoots and resolves problems and contributes significantly to discussions on prospective project design, feasibility, project management, and outcomes measurement. Participates in designing, organizing, and monitoring projects, including budgets/financial management. Plans for, participates, and occasionally leads the education of internal and external staff required to carry out an assigned project or research initiative. Organize and participate in internal and external project workgroup, committee and/or advisory board meetings, teleconferences, and regional meetings; prepare written correspondence; develop brochures, exhibits, and web site content; write articles for newsletters, newspapers, and magazines; coordinate student rotations and community research experiences; present at national meetings; perform other activities and duties as assigned. Position may require frequent travel to support community-based participatory research efforts.

About CPORT: The Center for Policy and Outcomes Research in Transplant (CPORT) is an enterprise-wide program led by Dr. Ray Kim, a nationally recognized transplant physician-scientist. CPORT's mission is to advance organ donation and transplantation through innovative policy, outcomes, and health services research. The program collaborates across Mayo Clinic's Transplant Center programs and with national stakeholders to generate evidence that informs transplant policy, improves access to transplantation, and enhances outcomes for patients and donors.

This is a hybrid position and must be located within 100 miles of a Mayo Clinic campus or Mayo Clinic Health System campus for occasional on-site expectations based on business needs. On-site expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

This vacancy is not eligible for sponsorship/ we will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in public health, education, communications, or other related field. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, Associate's degree/college Diploma/Certificate Program with at least 3 years of experience OR HS Diploma with at least 5 years of clinical research coordination/related experience may be considered. Applied knowledge and prior experience working with various research populations preferred. Must have demonstrated excellent skills in leadership, communication, problem-solving and work organization. Excellent interpersonal and project management skills required. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to work independently and effectively with a variety of people at all levels both within and outside of Mayo Clinic. Must be proficient in desktop publishing, word processing, database applications, and web site development. Must be highly organized, efficient, capable of comprehending complex instructions and situations, able to manage several projects simultaneously, and able to function independently and exercise independent judgment in decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in public health, health policy, health services research, public administration, healthcare administration, epidemiology, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting large-scale research, policy, or programmatic initiatives within academic medicine, healthcare systems, government agencies, or nonprofit organizations.
  • Knowledge of transplant-related policy, healthcare policy development, organ allocation systems, and/or outcomes research.
  • Experience working with the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN), United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR), or other transplant-related organizations.
  • Familiarity with federal healthcare policy, regulatory frameworks, or stakeholder engagement processes impacting transplantation and organ donation.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives involving investigators, operational leaders, policymakers, external organizations, and national committees.
  • Experience preparing briefing materials, reports, white papers, policy analyses, presentations, or executive-level communications.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret healthcare data and translate findings into actionable recommendations for leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting cross-institutional collaborations and enterprise-wide initiatives across geographically dispersed teams.
  • Ability to work independently in a highly matrixed environment while managing multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Experience engaging with government affairs, advocacy organizations, professional societies, or national healthcare committees is preferred.
  • Familiarity with research funding mechanisms, grants administration, contracts, and academic research operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with clinicians, researchers, executives, policymakers, and external partners.
