Job summary

The University of Michigan is seeking an Administrative Coordinator to support federally funded research projects led by Dr. Gabriela Marcu in Ann Arbor.

The role focuses on coordinating and organizing materials, data, and processes across multiple studies addressing opioid overdoses and social connectivity. You will convert high-level plans into timelines, track progress, manage communications with investigators and partners, and help establish best practices for project materials and research

Qualifications

  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently, with limited guidance, and under uncertainty.
  • Experience working in academic research environments.
  • Familiarity with IRB processes and materials.

Responsibilities

  • Turn high-level research plans into detailed project timelines, milestones, and tasks.
  • Identify potential risks and barriers to project progress, and work with Investigators and study teams to find solutions.
  • Monitor project activities to ensure timely completion of tasks, alignment with plans, and effective project progress.
  • Organize research materials such as protocols, qualitative data, and manuscript drafts.
  • Develop status reports for investigators by tracking progress of multiple research assistants.
  • Manage relationships with community partners and collaborators through timely and professional communication.
  • Coordinate meetings and generate agendas to facilitate proactive discussions and decision‑making among investigators and research assistants.

Job description

This position will report to Principal Investigator Dr. Gabriela Marcu, providing coordination and organization on federally-funded research projects. This position must be able to work independently under administrative direction on multiple projects, while concurrently helping to create best practices for organizing project materials and research data. Projects will focus on the public health issues of (a) opioid overdoses and (b) lack of social connection, taking a sociotechnical approach to investigating the role of technology in addressing these issues.
