The incumbent is expected to conduct independent scholarly research, contribute directly to the overall research goals of the project and the research group, participate in project planning, record and interpret data, communicate results, acquire technical, lab‑management, and manuscript‑/grant‑writing skills, supervise junior lab members, develop new methods and protocols for research, and assist with the development of other research projects in the lab.

CRISPR screens in hematopoietic stem cells to study DNA repair and DNA replication

A postdoctoral fellow position is available at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to perform state‑of‑the‑art CRISPR/Cas9 screens to identify novel therapeutic targets for treating hematopoietic stem cell diseases. Dr. Tong’s laboratory studies cytokine receptor signaling in replication stress, DNA repair, and ubiquitin signaling in hematopoietic stem cells, bone marrow failure, and leukemia. The focus is on mechanisms that safeguard the genome during DNA replication and how failures in these processes impact hematopoietic stem cell function, leading to bone marrow failure and/or leukemia. CRISPR screens with expert collaborators will delineate new understanding of stem cell fitness under replication stress and identify potentially druggable pathways for intervention.
