Job summary

GSK seeks a Research Pipeline Project Manager to drive planning and delivery of preclinical pipeline projects. You will partner with project leads, scientists, clinical teams, portfolio leaders and external collaborators to shape plans, remove barriers and accelerate delivery while ensuring quality and safety.

This hybrid role requires 2–3 days on-site at US Upper Providence site in Collegeville, PA or the UK Stevenage site, with future relocation plans to Cambridge, UK.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a scientific, engineering, or business discipline.
  • Extensive project or programme management experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or related life sciences industry.
  • Experience of preclinical projects and early pharmaceutical development.
  • Experience delivering complex, cross-functional projects in a matrix organisation.
  • Experience engaging with stakeholders and influencing at all levels.
  • Experience with risk management, project controls and tracking tools.

  • Support handover of projects from research into later development or operational teams, ensuring knowledge transfer and acceptance criteria are met.

Job description

We are looking for a Research Pipeline Project Manager to join our team. Pipeline Project Management drives decisions and enables teams to choose the best path and deliver medicines to patients faster than ever. In GSK, the Pipeline Project Manager (PPM) will partner with project leads to help teams plot the best course, then accelerate through complexity and uncertainty with no compromise to quality or safety.

  • Apply a holistic perspective and broad knowledge of drug discovery (pre-clinical) to help Research teams test ideas and optimize the strategy.
  • Empower teams to challenge convention, manage uncertainty, and accelerate delivery of critical milestones.
  • Continuously assess progress and clear the way for uninterrupted focus on the critical path.
  • Build high-performing teams by cultivating trust and outcomes-focused ways of working.
  • Share learnings and proven practices across the Project Management community so that we learn and grow as an organization.

This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 2-3 days per week on-site at our US Upper Providence site in Collegeville, PA or in the UK at our Stevenage site.

For candidates seeking to be located at our Stevenage site, this role will temporarily be based at Stevenage. However, the Company plans to relocate its offices to Cambridge, UK, Ware. The location of this role will therefore subsequently change to Cambridge, UK, Ware in accordance with timelines to be set by the Company. The relocation is currently proposed to take effect by early 2029.

In this role you will:

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
  • Advanced degree in science, medicine, engineering, or business (e.g., MSc, PhD, MBA).
  • Formal project management certification (PMP, Prince2 or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting due diligence, portfolio prioritisation or transition planning.
  • Familiarity with development of clinical assets.
  • Experience designing KPIs and performance frameworks for programmes.
  • Comfort using digital tools for programme tracking and collaboration.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, able to present progress, risks and decisions to varied audiences.
