Qualifications

Responsibilities
- Assess protocol eligibility and coordinate participation in clinical trials, including CAR T-cell studies
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to monitor patient responses to protocols and studies
- Assist PIs with data collection, validation, and statistical evaluation of data
- Enter data into databases and Case Report Forms from medical records
- Liaise with regulatory sponsors and institutions
- Prepare Clinical Content Templates and Factsheets for protocol submissions
- Collaborate with regulatory teams on Epic order development and budget determinations
- Coordinate protocol utilization with departments like Interventional Radiology and Research Center
- Participate in safety reporting, IND reporting, IRB reviews, and presentations

Research Nurse

The Department of Lymphoma-Myeloma is dedicated to advancing innovative therapies and clinical research for patients with lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and related hematologic malignancies. Through multidisciplinary collaboration, translational research, and clinical trials, the department works to improve outcomes and expand treatment options for patients facing complex blood cancers.
The Research Nurse supports Multiple Myeloma specifically by coordinating clinical research activities, facilitating patient participation in clinical trials, and ensuring compliance with study protocols. The Research Nurse serves as a critical link between patients, investigators, sponsors, and clinical teams while contributing to data integrity, patient safety, and research excellence. The Research Nurse plays an integral role in advancing the mission of UT MD Anderson through innovative clinical research and exceptional patient care.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical research background with experience coordinating oncology clinical trials, monitoring patients, managing protocol requirements, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams. Experience with CAR T-cell protocols, regulatory processes, research data management, electronic medical records, and patient education is preferred. Professional licensure and certifications should support clinical nursing practice and research responsibilities.
Salary Range: $77,500 - $97,000 - $116,500
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Serve as a liaison with regulatory sponsors, sponsor institutions, and industry sponsors
• Prepare Clinical Content Templates and Factsheets prior to protocol submissions to CRC and IRB
• Collaborate with regulatory teams on Epic order development, implementation, cost coverage analyses, and budget determinations
• Assess protocol utilization needs and coordinate requests with departments including Interventional Radiology, Clinical Translational
Research Center, and Tissue Station
• Participate in safety reporting, futility analyses, IND reporting, IRB continuing reviews, and scientific presentations
• Participate in staff meetings, debrief meetings, training sessions, and team activities
Clinical Settings Activities
• Evaluate treatment responses through patient interviews, medical record review, and communication with patients, family members, and local physicians
• Grade toxicities and adverse treatment reactions associated with protocol treatments
• Monitor patient participation and identify research-related concerns or complications
• Report treatment responses, toxicities, and adverse events to sponsors and the Institutional Review Board
• Prepare regular written and computerized reports required by research sponsors and regulatory bodies
Patient Care & Education
• Provide patient-centered care based on diagnosis, treatment plan, developmental needs, and individualized requirements
• Identify patient and family educational needs regarding treatment management, evaluation, and follow-up activities for clinical trials
• Educate patients and families through direct interaction and telephone communication
• Develop and implement patient education materials supporting protocol participation
• Build effective working relationships with patients, physicians, coworkers, and support personnel
• Plan, design, and deliver education programs for professional and ancillary staff regarding protocol requirements

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Required: RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).
- Required: BLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire or CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation
- Preferred: ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification as required by patient care area.
- Preferred: PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification as required by patient care area.
