Job summary

Mercer Advisors is seeking a Research Manager to join the Investment Management Group. You will support investment research through data collection, manager research, performance analysis, and documentation to strengthen the investment platform.

You will collaborate with senior staff on due diligence, performance attribution, and risk management while preparing materials for the Investment Committee and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, statistics, computer science or a related field; CFA progress a plus.
  • 2–4 years of experience in investment research, portfolio analysis, or related area.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; familiarity with statistical analysis and financial modeling.
  • Proficiency with Excel; experience with financial data tools (YCharts, FactSet, Bloomberg, Morningstar) preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; detail-oriented and able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Asset Market Analysis: collect, analyze, and maintain asset class data and performance metrics (equities, fixed income, ETFs, SMAs).
  • Fund Manager Analysis: assist due diligence of traditional, systematic, and quantitative managers and strategies.
  • Development of tools with senior team to analyze performance attribution and risk management.
  • Prepare materials for Investment Committee and internal stakeholders; support regulatory audits and policy documentation.

Job Summary

The Research Manager is a key member of Mercer Advisors’ Investment Management Group (IMG), which oversees and implements the firm’s investment solutions across billable AUM. These solutions include portfolio strategies, separately managed accounts (SMAs), mutual funds, ETFs, and private investment vehicles.

In this role, the Manager will support the investment research process through data collection, manager research, performance analysis, and documentation. The position offers an opportunity to develop expertise in investment research and portfolio construction while contributing to the integrity and effectiveness of the firm’s investment platform.

Essential Job Functions Will Include
Asset Market Analysis
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain asset class-level data and performance metrics (e.g. Modern Portfolio Theory statistics), with a focus on equity and fixed income ETFs, mutual funds, and separately managed accounts (SMAs).
  • Assist in the design and evaluation of asset class investment frameworks, portfolios, and SMA strategies.
Fund Manager Analysis
  • Assist in the initial and ongoing due diligence of traditional, systematic, and quantitative investment managers and strategies.
  • Work with senior team members to build, monitor, and refine tools to analyze performance attribution and risk management.
  • Draft, maintain, and update detailed memos on strategies – incorporating due diligence questionnaires, fund manager engagement and quantitative monitoring reports – that adhere to compliance and operational guidelines.
Communication
  • Prepare materials and analysis for Mercer Advisors’ Investment Committee and sub-committees.
  • Contribute to capital markets research and assist in the development of educational content for internal stakeholders.
  • Support the documentation and maintenance of departmental investment policies and procedures.
  • Assist with regulatory audits and internal documentation reviews.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, statistics, computer science or a related field; progress toward CFA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • 2–4 years of experience in investment research, portfolio analysis, or a related area.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; familiarity with statistical analysis and financial modeling.
  • Proficiency with Excel; experience with YCharts, FactSet, Bloomberg, Morningstar or similar tools is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a remote or hybrid team environment.
Working Conditions

Professional office environment. Primarily indoor work involving sitting and standing. No heavy lifting over 10 lbs.

Travel

Estimate 5-10%

Actual base pay within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the applicant’s geographic location, relevant experience, education, skills and licenses/certifications. This position is also eligible to earn incentive compensation through one of Mercer Advisors’ incentive compensation programs.

Base Pay Range

$120,000 - $135,000 USD
