Caltech, operating the LIGO Hanford Observatory, seeks a System Administrator to deploy, maintain, and extend critical computing infrastructure across diverse data centers. You will collaborate with local and remote admins, support a broad range of scientific applications, and help shape future infrastructure projects.

The role covers maintenance, deployment upgrades, and user support for a heterogeneous environment, including DNS, LDAP, containers, and HPC compute clusters.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience with Linux.
• Ability to support site infrastructure (DNS, DHCP, LDAP).
• Experience with automated configuration management systems such as Puppet, Chef, Salt, or Ansible.
• Experience with end-user support, either remote or in person.

Responsabilités

• Manage and administer multiple heterogeneous physical and virtual data centers.
• Coordinate with other system administrators and report progress.
• Provide application support for databases, business, engineering, and scientific analysis tools.
• Support and manage virtualized and container-based services.
• Manage automated configuration management systems and enterprise backups at scale.
• Administer Linux, macOS, and Windows servers and workstations.
