The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
The Research Finance and Grants Coordinator performs a broad range of pre- and post-award tasks for the Department of Biostatistics. The Department of Biostatistics funding portfolio consists of government, private, gift, and institutional funding sources. The incumbent will collaborate with the Department Administrator, Senior Grants Administrator, Senior Financial Analyst, Faculty and Staff and requires excellent analytical and quantitative ability, strong written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities

Pre-Award (30%)
- Assist senior grants administrator with proposal development and submission to ensure on time submission of grants.
- Create checklists delineating the required components of the proposal; assist with budgets and draft justifications; collect and review materials from investigators and partners; and assist with all internal required pre-award documents.
- Register and complete RASCAL Proposal Tracker for applicable grant actions; ensure RASCAL is fully approved by all required departments.
- Assist with initiating/completing applications in sponsor submission portals such as ASSIST and Grants.gov.
- Assist with submission/pre-award requests [JIT] for grant applications when requested by the sponsor.
- Maintain detailed, up-to-date records of PI’s other support and grant submission documents.
Post-Award (65%)
- Assist with project set-up and modification forms for account set-up and submit to SPA and address SPA post award compliance check list.
- Add new grant details and reporting deadlines to the Department Dashboard.
- Update salary funding source tracking for new incoming awards and renewals.
- Assist with financial review and reconciliation of sponsored projects. Analyze the impact of expenses on overall project budget and notify the DA and PI of any concerns.
- Assist with the quarterly PI attestation process; obtain back up documentation for expenses when needed to facilitate discussions with the PI. Investigate and resolve discrepancies with the Department when necessary.
- Assist with subaward package submissions to SPA for new subcontract agreements and amendments when needed.
- Work closely with Department Administrator to ensure that faculty and staff salaries are allocated correctly and forecasted for future years, including funding from collaborative projects in other departments.
- Reconcile and track sub-awardee invoicing and follow up sub-awardees as necessary.
OTHER (5%)
- Regularly update and maintain Departmental Dashboards, to ensure internal and external deadlines are met.
- Perform other related duties as assigned: effort distribution of position may change due to the sponsored projects needs of the Department.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent analytical and quantitative ability.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to acquire and apply knowledge quickly.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and prioritize workload.
- Skilled at building and maintaining relationships; and ability to exercise tact, discretion and judgement in sensitive and confidential matters.
- Ability to work well under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with pre- and post-award grant administration.
- Strong working knowledge and experience with NIH pre and post award grants management.
- Familiarity with Columbia Systems.
