Job summary

Mistral is seeking a Research Engineer to advance cybersecurity capabilities across RL environments and scalable data pipelines. You will build synthetic training scenarios, run experiments, and contribute to production training runs in close collaboration with researchers and security specialists.

You should be proficient in Python, have strong software engineering discipline, and be comfortable working across research and engineering domains to push state-of-the-art in AI security.

Qualifications

• Hands-on expertise in offensive and/or defensive cybersecurity.
• Strong software engineering skills with well-tested code.
• Fluency in Python; reading C/C++ for vulnerability analysis.
• DevOps experience with Docker/Kubernetes and cloud deployments.
• Familiarity with RL techniques and ML training concepts.
• Self-starter, collaborative across research and engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement RL environments simulating cybersecurity scenarios.
• Build pipelines and infrastructure to generate synthetic cybersecurity training data at scale.
• Conduct experiments and evaluations of model capabilities in the environments.
• Own infrastructure behind environments: containers, sandboxes, VMs, cloud deployments, orchestration.
• Collaborate with researchers and security specialists to create reproducible environments.
• Write clear Python code and follow robust software practices (testing, CI/CD).
