Job summary

Harvard University’s SEAS Electronics Shop seeks an Electronics Shop Manager to provide advanced technical leadership across research and teaching missions. You will oversee design, fabrication, testing, and integration of custom instrumentation, partnering with faculty, researchers, and students to translate requirements into reliable systems.

You will manage shop operations, safety programs, budgeting, procurement, and documentation, mentor users, and help plan long-term capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum of eight years of relevant experience in electronics laboratory, instrumentation development, or research engineering setting.
• Demonstrated experience designing, building, testing, and troubleshooting custom electronic instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced engineering consultation and hands-on support to researchers.
• Translate requirements into practical engineering solutions including prototypes and integrated instruments.
• Advise on best practices in instrumentation design, signal integrity, grounding, shielding, and noise reduction.
• Design, fabricate, assemble, test, troubleshoot, and refine custom electronic systems.
