Job summary

Crisil Coalition Greenwich is seeking a Research Director, Equities Lead, Market Structure & Technology, to guide research programs for financial institutions and technology vendors. You will publish high-quality analyses, engage clients, and oversee engagements across cash and derivatives markets, with a strong emphasis on technology and regulatory changes affecting markets.

Ideal candidates bring 10–15 years of experience, strong writing and presentation skills, and the ability to lead

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a financial institution, consulting firm, or vendor.
  • Business analysis or internal consulting experience in financial markets.
  • Strong knowledge of financial markets and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality research reports on a regular basis.
  • Provide ongoing support to subscribing financial institutions and vendors.
  • Develop and maintain a vibrant contact list among FinTech firms and market participants.
  • Act as relationship manager for key clients to grow subscription revenue.
  • Support sales in expanding the client base for subscriptions and projects.
  • Provide thought leadership on capital markets, trading, and regulatory topics.
  • Gather, synthesize, and analyze information from multiple channels for reports and engagements.
  • Maintain dialogue with clients and the market, handling ad hoc requests.
  • Deliver presentations at client meetings, conferences, and seminars.
  • Secure speaking engagements at industry events and be a reference for trade media.

Research Director, Equities Lead - Market Structure & Technology

As a Research Director within our Market Structure & Technology practice, you will strive to become a thought leader and trusted advisor to financial institutions and technology vendors. You will focus on providing actionable recommendations to our customers by producing research papers, interacting with clients, and leading consulting engagements with a particular emphasis on Equity markets and related technologies. Candidates must be able to cover cash and derivative markets and the regulatory changes that impact those markets.

The ideal candidate brings a solid industry expertise (10 to 15 years of experience at a financial institution, management consulting firm, or leading technology vendor), proficiency in technology and business strategies, proven written and oral communication skills, an ability to formulate original analyses and actionable recommendations, and proven quantitative analysis skills. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.

Working closely with colleagues, this position carries a high degree of autonomy and requires a candidate accustomed to multi-tasking and who will thrive in a dynamic environment.

Research Directors are expected to excel in the following areas:
  • Producing high-quality research reports on a regular basis. This includes all aspects from research and topic design to operational oversight and analysis.
  • Providing ongoing support to the financial institutions and technology vendors that subscribe to our research practices
  • Develop and maintain a vibrant contact list amongst FinTech firms, exchanges, trading venues, the sell side and the buy side with a goal towards becoming a go-to source for insight and analysis
  • Act as the relationship manager for select key clients, helping to grow subscription and project-based revenue through ongoing engagement and collaboration with the sales team
  • Supporting the sales team in expanding our client base for our subscription and project business
  • Provide thought leadership and analysis on capital markets topics, revolving around trading, technology infrastructure, the impact of regulation on the financial markets industry and other strategic initiatives. Engage with clients and market participants on a wide range of critical issues, trends, strategies and technologies
  • Gather, synthesize and analyze information from a number of channels into both published reports and private consulting engagements
  • Maintain a constant dialogue with clients and the market at large, as well as handling ad hoc requests from clients and the media
  • Give presentations and participate at client meetings, conferences and seminars
  • Regularly securing speaking engagements at industry and client conferences and events
  • Becoming a source of reference for the trade and top-tier press
Required Experience and Knowledge:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working at a broker, asset manager, trading venue or vendor supporting one of these constituencies. Candidates without this experience will not be considered.
  • Business analysis, corporate strategy, or internal consulting experience either within a financial markets firm or a consulting firm.
  • Strong knowledge of financial markets and technology
  • Work experience at a strategic consulting firm such as McKinsey, BCG, Oliver Wyman, or other strategic consulting business would be a significant plus.
