Job summary

AFB International, part of Ensign-Bickford Industries, offers a 12-week summer internship in R&D. You’ll work alongside experienced scientists on real‑world projects and gain exposure to the product development lifecycle in a dynamic, innovative environment.

Responsibilities include designing, executing, and analyzing experiments; compiling technical reports; and participating in Kaizen initiatives, with coaching from mentors and housing support provided.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in a scientific discipline (Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Animal Science or related field).
• Basic laboratory skills and familiarity with common analytical techniques (spectroscopy, chromatography, titration).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Assist in the design, execution, and analysis of laboratory experiments under the guidance of senior scientists.
• Collect, organize, and interpret experimental data using appropriate scientific and statistical methods.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate findings.

• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to solve technical challenges.

Internship Program Overview

The EBI 12-week summer internship program is designed to provide meaningful, hands‑on learning experiences. Interns will work alongside industry professionals on projects that have real business impact while gaining exposure to lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement initiatives such as process flow optimization and Kaizen methodologies.
