Research Data/Informatics Specialist, Sr – School of Medicine Information Technology

In this role, you will play a key part in designing and implementing advanced data and informatics solutions to support cutting‑edge medical research. You’ll collaborate closely with investigators and research teams to develop sustainable data management systems, ensure data integrity, and provide powerful analytical insights. This position combines technical expertise, problem‑solving, and project leadership, giving you the opportunity to influence major research initiatives and improve data‑driven decision‑making. It’s an ideal role for a technically skilled professional with a passion for research, innovation, and healthcare technology.

Accountabilities
  • Collaborate with research investigators to identify data needs and translate them into reliable, scalable technology solutions.
  • Design and implement data management systems, including databases, reports, and quality control processes.
  • Develop queries, data extracts, and analytical reports to support research, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
  • Build and optimize processes that ensure data accuracy, integrity, and accessibility across projects.
  • Lead informatics initiatives from conception through completion, coordinating with stakeholders to meet objectives.
  • Research emerging technologies and best practices to enhance data analysis and informatics capabilities.
  • Provide technical support and training to research teams, ensuring effective adoption of developed tools and solutions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of experience in clinical, research, or healthcare IT, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven expertise in translating business and research requirements into technical and data solutions.
  • Strong SQL programming and database management skills (SQL Developer, Toad, DBeaver).
  • Experience with Python and its data analysis libraries (pandas, numpy, matplotlib).
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Knowledge of data manipulation, analytics, and statistical methods.
  • Experience managing analytics projects using Agile methodologies, including sprint planning and iterative delivery.
  • Ability to handle large, complex datasets with strong attention to data quality and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills, with a collaborative and analytical mindset.
