Job summary

The University of Rochester is seeking a data-focused software engineer to support analytical workflows in the Cancer Center Admin M&D department. You will help implement and maintain data pipelines, ETL processes, and data infrastructures that enable research teams to access structured and unstructured data across sources.

With guidance from a team, you will translate requirements into robust software solutions, ensuring timely delivery while coordinating multiple tasks in a research

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a data-related or science field.
• 1 year of relevant experience in technology-intensive environments.
• Programming experience in Java and Python and/or R; experience with biospecimen software/Lab data mgmt.
• Familiarity with data analytics and software engineering best practices (version control, releases).
• Experience with Linux, Docker, and cloud technologies (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Familiarity with genomics/metagenomics/data standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain analytical and data science software and data pipelines under supervision.
• Enhance data collection frameworks to integrate structured/unstructured data from multiple sources.
• Maintain data infrastructure systems (data warehouses/lakes) and data access APIs.
• Support conversion of business/tech requirements into software solutions.
• Maintain ETL pipelines and adapt data architecture for growing data sources.
• Document systems and ensure quality through testing and code reviews.
