Job summary

The University of Rochester is seeking a Data Engineer to support analytical and data science software, data pipelines, and infrastructure to enable research workflows. You will maintain data warehouses/lakes, APIs, and data collection frameworks, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities include ETL maintenance, translating requirements into software solutions, and contributing to scientific research. Strong programming and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Biomedical Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or similar discipline required.
• 1 year of relevant experience including programming in SQL or equivalent.
• Experience with Java, Python and/or R; familiarity with biospecimen software, ELN, LabKey, REDCap.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and modifies ETL data pipelines and data architecture for growing data from research sources.
• Supports conversion of requirements into software solutions and manages multiple tasks and timelines.
• Implements data workflow solutions for data collection, management, reporting and analytics.
• Adheres to development lifecycle practices including requirements, testing, review and QA.
