Job summary

Avera Research Institute in Sioux Falls, SD, is seeking an Analyst to assist researchers and study staff in the analysis and management of complex health research data. You will build and maintain databases, perform data wrangling, and ensure data quality across projects.

You will use statistical software (R, SAS, SPSS, Python) to create figures, metadata, and data dictionaries, and to promote best practices for reproducible data handling. Collaborate across teams to move health research forward.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science, math, statistics or data science.
• Experience with scientific research and statistical programming (R, SAS, SPSS, Python, etc) and with database building/management.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates to conduct data quality and control processes and monitor progress to meet research goals.
• Builds and manages complex research databases with metadata and data dictionaries.
• Assists in creating case report forms (CRFs) and defining data collection processes.
• Creates documentation explaining data management best practices used in reports, processes and analyses.
• Archives data and projects, including metadata and study documents.
• Uses data visualization to prepare quality figures, tables, and results for publications, reports, and presentations.
• Communicates data management concepts to researchers and study staff.
• Interacts with researchers to ensure proper data collection and management methods.

A Brief Overview

Assists researchers and study staff in analysis and management of complex health research data to define research findings and outcomes. Responsible for using statistical software's related to building and maintaining research databases, data wrangling, organization, and quality control, and basic data analysis. The Analyst defines processes on data collection and will work with, manage, and organize large, complex datasets. Works directly with researchers and study staff to develop best practices for data collection and management.

• Uses data visualization to prepare quality figures, tables, and results to summarize study data for journal publications, reports, and presentations.

• Communicates data management concepts to researchers and study staff of all levels and backgrounds.

• Interacts and consults with researchers and study staff to ensure proper data collection and management methods during the entire study process.

• Demonstrates accountability, ensures data integrity and reproducibility throughout all activities.

Essential Qualifications

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

• Bachelor's Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Data Science program

• Scientific research, statistical programming (R, SAS, SPSS, Python, etc), and database building and management

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

• Master's Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Data Science program

• Consulting, statistical analysis, other programming languages, and/or REDCap electronic data capture system
