Job Summary

Works under general direction to perform professional level medical or scientific research assignments related to particular or specialized field of endeavor.

Dr. Lee's basic and translational science laboratory is dedicated to understanding the immune‑ and metabolism‑mediated mechanisms underlying vascular disorders with the ultimate goal of improving how we protect our patients' blood vessels against heart attack, stroke, or limb loss. We integrate multidisciplinary approaches, including molecular and biochemical analyses of immune‑vascular crosstalk in vitro and in vivo, cellular metabolism and systems biology all guided by the challenges identified in clinical cardiology.

Successful candidates will become integral parts of the Laurel Lee Lab and actively contribute to the Lab's scientific discoveries and publications. We are looking for a qualified candidate who will work closely with the principal investigator and other lab members to advance the Lab's research projects and help with lab operations. Proficiency in mouse work is strongly preferred.

Experience and Education
  • Education: Master’s Degree with major coursework in field of assignment or Bachelor’s Degree with major coursework in field of assignment
  • Experience: 3 years of laboratory experience with Master’s degree including 2 years at level of Research Assistant II or equivalent, or 4 years of laboratory experience with Bachelor’s degree including 2 years at level of Research Assistant II or equivalent.
Job Duties
  • Recommend and/or initiate new or modified procedures and techniques based upon latest developments in assigned field or analysis of research data.
  • Perform computer programming for accumulation and analysis of research data.
  • Design, construct, repair, or modify electronic and/or mechanical equipment or apparatus used in experiments and research projects.
  • Instruct medical students, graduate students, residents, or other laboratory personnel of lower grade with respect to techniques, procedures, and equipment utilized in research or experiments.
  • Assist principal investigator and other professional personnel in writing of reports and papers for publication.
  • May provide working supervision to employees of lower grade engaged in performance of a variety of difficult and complex laboratory work tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
