Job summary

BPS Bioscience is seeking a laboratory technician to work with established guidelines on research projects. The role involves assisting with experiments, data collection, and basic data analysis while staying current with relevant publications.

Candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree with experience or a Master’s in a related field, strong communication and teamwork skills, and knowledge of enzyme kinetics and protein characterization. Onsite work in San Diego, CA is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 2+ years experience or a Master’s degree in molecular biology, cell biology, biophysics, or a related field.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• Experience with enzyme kinetics is a plus.
• Proven ability in biochemical assays and protein characterization.

Responsibilities

• Operate laboratory equipment and assist with routine assays and studies.
• Prepare solutions, collect and evaluate results, and maintain notes or databases.
• Perform calculations and basic data analysis; summarize results.
• Provide supervision or guidance to junior technicians when needed.
• Participate in trainings and workshops and support other tasks as assigned.

Job Overview

Functioning somewhat independently, incumbent assists with and conducts laboratory experiments on research projects within well-defined guidelines; keeps abreast of current publications relative to methods, techniques, and developments within area of research; collects, prepares, evaluates results of (or response to) process; summarizes data; may provide supervision and guidance to junior level technicians.

Responsibilities

• Operates laboratory equipment; contributes to laboratory maintenance.
• Does a variety of assays, tests, and studies of a routine nature.
• Performs calculations to complete research test results; collates data; performs statistical analysis of lab results and maintain notes and log or computer database; performs basic procedures for computer assisted data analysis.
• Prepares stock chemical solutions, offers solutions.
• Participates in training sessions and workshops.
• Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Requirements

• ​Bachelor's degree of 2 years’ experience, or master’s degree in molecular biology, cell biology, biophysics, or a related field is required
• Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills are essential.
• Prior experience with enzyme kinetics is a plus
• Must have proven ability in biochemical assay and protein characterization
