Job summary

Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking a Research Associate I to perform hands-on research in the Locke lab focusing on translational cellular immunotherapy and CAR T cell therapy for leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. The role includes data analysis, reporting, protocol development, and collaboration with the PI and team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in science related field is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic biological, behavioral, social science or public health research under supervision.
  • Analyze data and assist in meetings to evaluate data validity and lab procedures.
  • Prepare progress reports, protocols, and presentations; assist in publications.
  • Train new staff and act as a resource for lab members.
  • Maintain lab equipment, prepare tissues and samples, and manage supplies.
  • Ensure infection control and safety procedures are followed.

The Research Associate provides technical and analytical support for various research programs across all Moffitt divisions and may have administrative and training responsibilities, as assigned. Research Associates work under the general supervision of a Principal Investigator (Pl) and may work as part of a team under the direct supervision of more senior lab personnel. Research Associates participate in the planning, development, and implementation of original experimental procedures within the overall scope of the project.The Locke lab’s primary focus is translational research in the field of cellular immunotherapy with a focus on chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy for the treatment of leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma patients.Position Highlights:Responsible for data analysis using innovative procedures and protocols with supervision.Research Associates perform data analysis, participate in meetings with PI and other team members to evaluate and interpret the validity of data and evaluate laboratory procedures.Research Associates prepare progress reports, write protocols, create presentations and assist in the publication of research whether at scientific meetings or in the form of manuscripts.The Ideal Candidate:Should be able to assist in training new staff in areas of expertise, and serve as a resource to other lab members.Must have the ability to plan, organize and coordinate assignments.Should have excellent verbal and written communication.Successful candidate will be expected to exhibit individual initiative, work independently; be technically proficient and accurate; effectively communicate in both written reports and presentations; initiate and ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures; and possess attention to detail.Responsibilities:Hands-on research experience, maintain laboratory equipment in a clean working order, including performing instrument standardization documented by written report. Reorder and restock laboratory supplies as needed.Responsible for the preparation of tissues and samples for study under appropriate supervision.Keep current with lab trends and techniques.Follow infection control techniques, for preparation, handling and disposal of as samples.Research Associates collect, annotate, and permanently record raw experiment data and document findings in a timely manner accessible to others on the research team.Research Associates work in a manner compliant with applicable regulations including the protection of patient records; apply standard quality control procedures to assure accuracy of test results; operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment; maintain supply inventory; prepare reagents according to laboratory standards.Credentials and Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in science related field required with prior hands-on research training experience is required.Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.Excellent verbal and written communication skills are requiredMoffitt Team Members are eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Paid Time Off, Retirement, Parental Leave and more.
