Evotec in Rahway, New Jersey is seeking a Research Associate to join our Bioengineering team focused on protein expression and next generation sequencing. You will contribute to project goals, work with top scientists, and advance your expertise in a collaborative, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Synthetic Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Full-time experience in a research laboratory setting.
• Hands-on experience with biosafety level 1 organisms.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs with accurate documentation of work and results.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
• Availability for travel to Princeton, NJ, site for training and quarterly meetings.
• Ability to work a weekend schedule as needed, with total hours maintained within a 40-hour work week.

Responsibilities

• Apply strong technical skills to execute assignments and experiments within project timelines.
• Provide input into experimental design and assist in problem solving and workflow improvements.
• Document data and communicate results through records, notebooks, emails, and inventories.
• Maintain a safe, compliant laboratory environment and ensure training records are up to date.

• Receive on-the-job training through coaching and mentoring from Evotec team.

The Role

We're looking for a passionate and curious Research Associate to join our Bioengineering team of Evotec employees responsible for protein expression and next generation sequencing with a leading protein engineering group at a premier research-driven biopharmaceutical company located in Rahway, New Jersey. What You'll Do

• Apply strong technical skills to execute assignments and experiments within the necessary project timelines that are critical to the success of the team.
• Provide input into experimental design and aid in technical problem solving and workflow improvement efforts.
• Communicate technical details and results through physical records, electronic notebooks, conversations, and by e-mail, as well as ensure that data is recorded in laboratory information management systems and sample inventories are accurate and up to date.
• Take initiative to maintain an efficient, well-stocked, safe, and compliant laboratory environment and individual compliance in training and records.
• Gain exposure to protein engineering design and directed evolution approaches and how they are applied to generate novel biocatalysts and biopharmaceuticals.
• Receive on-the-job training through active coaching and mentoring by members of the Evotec insourced team and company employees and develop as an individual contributor and subject matter expert in a collaborative team that values diversity, inclusion, innovation, and impact.

Who You Are

• Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Synthetic Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Full time experience in a research laboratory setting.
• Hands-on experience with and knowledge of standard microbiological practices for working with biosafety level 1 organisms.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures and deliver high quality results with accurate documentation of work and results.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills. - Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
• Availability for travel to Princeton, NJ, site for training and quarterly meetings.
• Ability to work a weekend schedule as needed, with total hours maintained within a 40-hour work week.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $60,000 to $70,000. This is a salary, exempt role. Base salary offered may vary depending on the individual's skills, experience and competitive market value. Additional total rewards include discretionary annual bonus, comprehensive benefits to include Medical, Dental and Vision, short-term and long-term disability, company paid basic life insurance, 401k company match, flexible work, generous paid time off and paid holiday, wellness and
