Job description

The Defense Health Operation of Leidos is currently looking for a Research Associate to support our operations at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command (NNPTC) in Goose Creek, SC. The Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory (NSMRL) supports NNPTC through research and investigation of the effects of medical, psychological, and performance issues associated with the health and performance of naval personnel in operational and non-operational settings.

The Research Associate will be responsible for assisting in developing, setting up and monitoring of psychological and physiological testing for a variety of projects in the fields of psychological health, human performance, and talent management.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Administer and debrief psychological assessments, including clinical decision-aid tools and personality inventories, in both one-on-one sessions and large-group settings.
  • Facilitate dynamic group-level presentations, workshops, and briefings on topics related to talent management, leadership development, and organizational performance, demonstrating strong comfort with public speaking.
  • Provide planning support for various research efforts, coordinating between partnering organizations.
  • Conduct basic literature searches and draft literature reviews and bibliographies for the development of research proposals.
  • Support the execution of research protocols.
  • Perform elementary statistical analysis and evaluation of data.
  • Participate in the drafting and editing of technical reports, manuscripts, and presentations detailing results and the appropriate inferences to be drawn from results.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and plan meetings and conferences for on-site, off-site, and telecommunication.
  • Support electronic administration of assessments using online and offline survey software, including administration via mobile electronic platforms.
  • Upload and compile electronic survey data on Qualtrics to deliver aggregated datasets for statistical analyses.
  • Participate in team, department, and laboratory meetings.
  • Complete required training.
  • Work is to be primarily performed on a government installation. The normal work week is Monday through Friday 0800 to 1630.
  • Some offsite travel (~10%) will be required for data collection efforts, meetings, presentations, etc.
Basic Qualifications
  • Candidates must have completed a minimum of a Master’s degree in psychology or a similar discipline with at least four years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a similar discipline with at least eight years of experience.
  • Candidates must have demonstrated research experience of at least 2 years in psychology or a related discipline.
  • Candidates must demonstrate computer literacy, proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, and familiarity with computer programming languages such as R.
  • Candidates must demonstrate exemplary public speaking skills and the ability to interact and effectively communicate both written and orally with a wide variety of people in one-on-one and group environments.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with HIPAA, PHI/PII compliance, and data security.
  • Ability to work independently with little to no direct supervision.
  • Due to Federal contracting requirements, the candidate must be a US Citizen.
  • The candidate will be required to acquire, at a minimum, a SECRET classification access level. Preference will be given to a candidate who already has this clearance level.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated interest or foundational experience in personality-based coaching, talent management, and/or leadership development.
  • Given the embedded nature of the position, prior Navy is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated Skills should include a foundational and theoretical understanding of general scientific principles.
  • Experience in a human subjects research setting and experience in the US federal government system is highly desired.

Pay Range: $57,850.00 - $104,575.00
