Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas seeks a Research Assistant Professor to advance cellular therapies, cancer immunology, and immune engineering. The role guides projects toward first‑in‑human studies, supports grants and publications, and mentors trainees.

The candidate will lead innovative research in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to the Center's strategic direction and translational goals in a world‑class institution.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent advanced degree in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of postdoctoral or relevant research experience.
  • Proven track record of scientific publications in peer‑reviewed journals.
  • Grant writing experience and funding success preferred.
  • Expertise in immunology, particularly T‑cell biology, cellular therapies, and/or cancer biology.

Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and manage innovative research projects focused on cellular therapies and cancer immunology.
  • Identify and characterize novel immunotherapy targets.
  • Develop and refine advanced cellular engineering approaches, including T-cell modification and genetic editing.
  • Support preparation of grants, publications, and conferences.
  • Mentor and supervise graduate students, postdocs, technicians, and junior personnel.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the Center and departments.
  • Contribute to the scientific direction and strategy of the Center.
