Job summary

UTHealth Houston is seeking a Research Assistant I to perform basic/ translational research, potentially involving animal work, under general supervision. Typical duties include handling biological samples, conducting laboratory experiments, data collection, and maintaining accurate records.

The position supports principal investigators and researchers, ensuring safe lab practices and upholding study protocols while contributing to ongoing projects in a world-renowned medical research

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required; may substitute required education with equivalent years of experience.
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree; Minimum Experience: None.
Security Sensitive: This position is security-sensitive per Texas Education Code 51.215 and related statutes.

Responsibilities

Under supervision, conducts laboratory experiments and activities to support research objectives.
Collects, organizes and prepares research data for principal investigators and other researchers.
Maintains clean laboratory equipment and work area to ensure a safe, efficient environment.
Orders laboratory supplies as directed by senior staff.
Stays current with updated procedures and protocols; may participate in trainings, seminars, and workshops.
May coordinate the work of technicians to ensure timely, high-quality results.
