Despite extensive molecular characterization of many types of cancer, we still do not understand how epithelial tumor cell populations dynamically adapt during therapy to survive. The Asare lab studies how gynecologic malignancies like ovarian cancer escape therapy and grow. Using molecular biology techniques, advanced sequencing, cell culture, and mouse models, we focus on how individual ovarian cancer cells respond to and change when treated with targeted therapy and chemotherapy. The lab integrates patient focused studies with basic biology to identify new directions for novel anti-cancer therapies and make existing therapies work better.
The candidate will work closely with both medical trainees, scientific trainees, and staff in a highly collaborative environment. The candidate will participate in research projects including data collection and analysis, perform laboratory organization and maintenance tasks, and conduct animal monitoring, animal treatments, animal tumor imaging, and animal tumor harvesting.
