A prominent research university in Los Angeles is seeking a Research Assistant to support research projects in Finance and Economics. This role requires strong quantitative skills, proficiency in Stata or R, and a Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field. Responsibilities include literature reviews, data collection, econometric analysis, and managing deadlines. The position is primarily on-site with some limited remote work opportunities.
The Research Assistant will be working on research projects in Finance and Economics for UCLA Anderson faculty members Valentin Haddad and Tyler Muir. The research will be in a variety of fields within Financial Economics. Tasks will involve conducting literature reviews of published papers in various areas of economics, collecting or scraping data from webpages and other sources, performing econometric analysis of data, solving quantitative models, and providing regular status updates on the aforementioned tasks. The Research Assistant will exercise independent judgment, take initiative, and appropriately manage deadlines. Strong quantitative skills and proficiency in Stata, R, and/or Python are required, as is proficiency in oral and written English communication. A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative subject such as Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Applied Math is preferred. Candidates with an intention to proceed to graduate study in Economics, Finance, or a related discipline are preferred. This position requires on-site presence and offers limited remote work opportunities.
