Job summary

The US Oncology Network is seeking a Full Time Research Assistant for our Fairfax office to support clinical research operations and data management.

Under direct supervision, you will log referrals, collect data from initial contact through therapy and follow-up, and assist with clerical data management, patient care, and lab-related tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent; oncology experience preferred.
  • Business Experience: Experience with Microsoft Office and data entry.
  • Specialized Knowledge/Skills: Excellent written and oral communication, strong organizational skills, attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains patient data files in an organized manner for easy retrieval and review.
  • Collects patient data from initial contact through course of therapy, rehabilitation, and long-term care.
  • Assists with scheduling consultations, diagnostic tests or procedures, and future appointments for patients with physicians as requested.
  • Prepares patient records for audits by regulatory, accrediting, and research organizations.
  • Maintains supplies, drugs and storage facilities for clinical research as appropriate.
  • May enter some pertinent data in computer system in a timely manner as outlined by department guidelines.
  • May assist physicians and nurses with direct patient care including vital signs and assisting in procedures.

Job description

Full Time Research Assistant for our Fairfax office.

Under direct supervision, initiates and/or maintains accurate and current logs of all patients referred for participation in clinical research. Collects data from initial patient contact through course of therapy and long-term follow-up. Performs all clerical and administrative data management functions for the department. May assist with direct patient care, laboratory services, and maintenance of supplies duties as they relate to Clinical Research. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintains patient data files in an organized manner for easy retrieval and review.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Qualification:

  • Education/Training - High school diploma or equivalent, required 1 year medical office experience, oncology experience preferred, Phlebotomy skills a plus
  • Business Experience - Experience in Microsoft Office Experience with computer data entry and database management preferred
  • Specialized Knowledge/Skills- Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent organizational skills Attention to details and accuracy

Requires normal range of hearing and vision correctable to 20/20. Requires occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.
