Job summary

MedStar Health Research Institute is seeking an entry-level Research Assistant to support clinical and health services research projects. You will help with data collection, analysis, and general administrative tasks while traveling between MedStar Montgomery Medical Center and MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

The ideal candidate is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and communicates effectively with team members.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Conduct blood draws and sample processing.
  • Assist with collecting, organizing, and maintaining research data.
  • Perform basic data entry and data management tasks.
  • Assist with study startup activities and patient recruitment.
  • Prepare materials for research studies including questionnaires and surveys.
  • Assist with preparation of research reports, presentations and publications.
  • Coordinate meetings, schedules, and communications for research teams.
  • Participate in research meetings and contribute to discussions.
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements for research activities.
  • Maintain research documentation and proper filing/record-keeping.

General Summary of Position

The entry-level Research Assistant supports research projects within the MedStar Health Research Institute by assisting with basic data collection analysis and general administrative tasks. Provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and grow within the field of research while contributing to ongoing studies in clinical and/or health services research. The ideal candidate is eager to learn and demonstrates strong attention to detail organization and communication skills.

This position will require travel between MedStar Montgomery Medical Center and MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conducting blood draws and processing of samples
  • Assists with collecting organizing and maintaining research data.
  • Performs basic data entry and data management tasks.
  • Assists with study startup activities as well as patient recruitment
  • Prepares materials for research studies including questionnaires and surveys.
  • Assists with the preparation of research reports presentations and publications.
  • Coordinates meetings schedules and communications for research teams.
  • Participates in research meetings and contribute to discussions.
  • Adheres to ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements for research activities.
  • Maintains research documentation and ensure proper filing and record-keeping.
Minimal Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate's degree preferred
  • One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience
  • Prior work experience not required
  • Experience in health care setting preferred
  • One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • \"Technical Skills: Basic data entry familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Wor,d PowerPoint) and willingness to learn new research tools and software.
  • Knowledge: Basic understanding of research principles and ethics especially in clinical and/or health services research.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy in data collection entry and documentation.
  • Organization: Able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with team members and preparing reports.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and take on new tasks especially when exposed to new research methodologies or systems.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with researchers and staff to contribute to research goals.
