Job summary

BPS Technology is seeking a Research Assistant to support the Development Department with basic and general laboratory research and related clerical tasks. Under supervision, you will perform experiments, process data, and assist in designing procedures to support ongoing projects.

The role involves maintaining equipment, organizing results, and possibly guiding others on basic techniques. An Associate's degree or equivalent is required, along with related experience or training.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college; six months to one year related experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory experiments using specified techniques and equipment.
• Processes, organizes and summarizes data; reports results using scientific, word processing, spreadsheet or statistical software.
• May assist in designing experiments, techniques, and protocols.
• Maintains and cleans equipment; orders supplies.
• May process orders or invoices and perform simple clerical tasks.

BPS Technology is looking for a Research Assistant to complete the growing needs our of Development Department.

OVERVIEW:

Under specific direction, performs a variety of basic and general laboratory research and clerical tasks determined by the field and scope of the particular research study. May perform tasks related to the research project independently, but within specific guidelines and subject to review by supervisor or other research staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs laboratory experiments utilizing specific and proscribed techniques and equipment;
• Under direction, processes, organizes and summarizes data, reporting experiment results using a variety of scientific, word processing, spreadsheet or statistical software applications or program platforms;
• As a member of a project team, may assist in the design of laboratory experiments, techniques, and protocols;
• May perform routine logging and/or testing of samples;
• May occasionally instruct others in basic laboratory techniques;
• Performs related laboratory maintenance such as maintaining and cleaning equipment and ordering supplies;
• May process orders or invoices, or undertake other clerical and simple accounting duties under the direction of administrative personnel.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING:

• Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two year college and technical school; and six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
