Job summary

Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor seeks a researcher to study endoplasmic reticulum protein quality control in multiple myeloma. Work includes mammalian cell culture, immunoblotting, flow cytometry, proteomics, and patient biospecimen analysis.

You will assist the PI with experimental design and data presentation at weekly lab meetings. Requires a Bachelor's degree + 4–5 years (Associate 1–3 years); Masters/PhD preferred. Hybrid work options may be available within a large academic health system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required with 4–5 years of related experience (Associate level requires 1–3 years).
  • Masters or doctoral degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and support biomedical research experiments to study endoplasmic reticulum protein quality control pathways in multiple myeloma.
  • Implement xenotransplant and syngeneic multiple myeloma studies to evaluate novel inhibitors and genetic manipulation.
  • Collect, analyze and interpret experimental data with increasing independence; troubleshoot results and improve data collection.
  • Assist the Principal Investigator with development of research goals, experimental design, technical decision-making, and presentation of data at weekly lab meetings.
  • Assist with ordering supplies, maintaining safety protocols and standard operating procedures, organizing laboratory materials, and ensuring efficient laboratory operations.

Responsibilities*
  • Perform and support biomedical research experiments to study and develop novel therapeutic approaches for endoplasmic reticulum protein quality control pathways in multiple myeloma, including mammalian cell culture, immunoblotting, cell viability assays, flow cytometry, proteomics and primary patient biospecimen analysis.
  • Implement xenotransplant and syngeneic multiple myeloma studies to evaluate novel small molecule inhibitors and genetic manipulation of ER protein quality control pathways, including tumor monitoring, tissue collection, biochemical analysis, and maintenance of genetic lines.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data with increasing independence, including identifying trends, troubleshooting results, and suggesting improvements to data collection and measurement approaches.
  • Assist the Principal Investigator with development of research goals, experimental design, technical decision-making, and presentation of data and research plans at weekly laboratory meetings.
  • Assist with ordering supplies, maintaining safety protocols and standard operating procedures, organizing laboratory materials, and ensuring the laboratory functions efficiently and safely.
