Med Institute Inc. in West Lafayette, IN, is seeking a Research and Development Engineer to apply engineering principles to create and evaluate medical devices for client needs. This full-time on-site role requires 10–20% travel and a mindset of scientific excellence.

You will plan experiments, develop prototypes, document results, and contribute to regulatory strategy and invention disclosures while collaborating with management, clients, and cross-functional teams.

Qualificações

• BS (or advanced degree) in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Aided Engineering, Biology or Physiology, or equivalent experience. MS degree preferred.
• Proven ability to innovate in the development of novel concepts and creating solutions to technical problems with an eye towards providing practical solutions in a timely manner.
• Task Oriented: demonstrated knowledge and ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate the completion of deliverables and tasks.
• Communication Skills: ability to effectively communicate and constructively collaborate with colleagues.
• Professionalism: maintain professionalism and positive attitude in all interactions; strong work ethic and discipline.
• Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States; MED Institute does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status.

• Assure that project deliverables and tasks are technically excellent and completed in a timely fashion.

• Assure that appropriate documentation is kept detailing project history (reports, laboratory notebooks, invention disclosures, scientific literature, meeting notes, deliverables, etc.).
• Maintain and develop the technical capabilities necessary to provide technical solutions to clients.
• Understand the intellectual property process and how it is established, harvested, characterized, and protected.

Overview

The Research and Development Engineer is responsible for application of engineering principles to research and develop various medical devices, based on client needs. These responsibilities include completing project deliverables and tasks to support the evaluation of medical devices and creation of novel medical device concepts through collaboration with external clients and, upon request, with other Cook companies.
