Job summary

Tunnl in Washington, DC seeks a Research Analyst to join its Research & Data Operations team to support design, processing, and quality of research instruments.

You will partner with Account Management to execute quantitative and qualitative studies, including surveys, focus groups, recruitment, and guides.

The ideal candidate is a detail-focused self-starter who wants to grow technical and analytical skills in survey research and microtargeting.

Qualifications

  • 0–2 years of experience in survey research, market research, marketing or communications campaigns, analytics, or equivalent (internships or academic experience considered)

Role Overview

Tunnl is hiring for a Research Analyst to join it's Research & Data Operations team to support the design, processing, and quality of it's research instruments. The Research & Data Operations team is composed of Tunnl's in-house experts across research operations, audience building, and audience activation workflows.

The research analyst will partner with Account Management teams to support the execution of both quantitative and qualitative research projects, including survey design, fielding, and QC as well as coordinating focus groups & IDIs including recruitment, designing discussion guides, and arranging venues.

The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who enjoys solving problems, works well in fast-paced environments, takes pride in getting the details right, and is eager to build technical and analytical skills in survey research and microtargeting. Candidates must be located in the DC-area.

Responsibilities

Collaborate Across Teams

  • Work with Account Management, Strategic Research, and Product teams
  • Join internal and client meetings, take notes, and support follow-ups

Work with Data & Research Tools

  • Help validate datasets and review outputs for accuracy
  • Assist with data formatting, tagging, and basic processing
  • Learn how survey data is collected, structured, and analyzed

Build Skills & Improve Processes

  • Follow internal workflows and quality control processes
  • Document issues and help improve team processes over time
  • Continuously develop technical, analytical, and communication skills

Support Research & Client Deliverables

  • Assist in preparing client-facing materials such as data summaries (toplines, crosstabs), slide decks, and memos
  • Ensure outputs are accurate, well-formatted, and easy to understand
  • Support teams in turning data into clear, actionable insights

Support Survey Execution

  • Assist with survey programming and testing (e.g., logic, skips, quotas)
  • Monitor fieldwork and flag unusual patterns or issues
  • Conduct quality checks on surveys and data outputs
Required Qualifications
  • 0–2 years of experience in survey research, market research, marketing or communications campaigns, analytics, or equivalent (internships or academic experience considered)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in public affairs, brand insights, political campaigns, or market research
  • Familiarity with concepts like survey weighting, quotas, probabilities, and more
  • Exposure to reporting outputs such as banners, crosstabs, memos, or presentation decks
  • Exposure to different programming languages, like SQL, R, Python, etc.
  • Strong written communication skills for summaries and client-facing outputs
