Job summary

NBCUniversal is seeking a data-driven analyst to learn and grow in a dynamic media research environment. You will analyze viewership data to deliver insights driving audience growth and business development for NBCUniversal’s Local Media division.

Responsibilities include building station sales inventories, supporting hundreds of sellers, and aiding in the development of future sales systems with Nielsen and Comscore. Hybrid work in New York is available alongside comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Significant interest in research, advertising, or media outlets.
  • Understanding of television industry in relation to ratings and sales.
  • Basic knowledge of Nielsen and Comscore data and its role in the industry.
  • Efficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, macros, advanced formatting).

  • Create and maintain station sales inventory and estimates based on Nielsen and comScore ratings for NBC, Telemundo, NBC Sports RSN, COZI & TELX.
  • Support over 200 sellers with 40–50 ad hoc sales requests per week, analyzing audience data across NBCU Local Stations and digital properties.
  • Conduct analysis to understand the consumer and establish competitive advantages.
  • Support over 30 local stations providing backup for market research leads.
  • Assist in developing future sales systems involving Nielsen and Comscore and improve workflow.
  • Manage implementation of new data and its impact on inventory systems.
  • Collaborate with Sales Operations on inventory system testing for new features.
  • Support Sales teams in developing insights and presentations to engage advertisers and agencies.

Job Description

This is an opportunity to learn and grow in an exciting, evolving media research environment. The role will handle analyzing viewership data to deliver insights that drive audience and business development for NBC Universal’s Local Media division.

  • Create and maintain station sales inventory and estimates based on Nielsen and comScore ratings for all properties which include NBC, Telemundo, NBC Sports Regional Networks, COZI & TeleXitos. Implement these ratings for new programming, sports, and specials across all markets
  • Support over 200 sellers with 40-50 ad hoc sales requests per week, analyzing and interpreting audience data across the NBCU Owned Television Stations division to support our sales organization (NBC, TEL, RSN, COZI & TELX) and digital properties
  • Conduct analysis to understand the consumer and establish competitive advantages
  • Support over 30 local stations providing backup for market research leads when needed
  • Support insights into emerging industry measurements across NBCU Local property’s various platforms
  • Aid in development of future sales system involving Nielsen and Comscore and help supply a more efficient workflow
  • Manage the implementation of new data and their impact on our inventory system
  • Able to handle roadblocks of the inventory system and figuring out solutions
  • Collaborate with our Sales Operation team regarding inventory system testing for new and improved features
  • Support Sales teams in the development of insights and presentations to engage advertisers and their agencies

Eligibility Requirements
  • Must be willing to work in New York, NY
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
Desired Characteristics
  • Able to learn new software in a brief time and can solve problems on their own
  • Highly organized and detail oriented, with ability to work under pressure, handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team and with management and sales staff
  • Experience with creating and supporting station sales estimates (in a system such as Donovan/MediaOcean, Wide Orbit Media Sales, MediaLine or Strata)
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skillsFamiliarity with Nielsen ratings including applicable software such as Nielsen Local TV View, Nielsen National TV View, NPower, and other syndicated media research sources such as Scarborough, Simmons, POLK Automotive and Kantar
  • Effective analytical skills, able to analyze qualitative and quantitative data with client needs in mind
  • Interest in television and media with the desire to develop skills for further growth
