Job summary

Walker Therapeutic & Educational Programs in Needham, MA, seeks a Clinician to provide case management and ongoing clinical services for Res Ed students and families. You will deliver individual and family therapy, maintain treatment plans, and coordinate with DCF/DMH and CBHI partners as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires a Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling and licensure (LCSW/LICSW/LMHC/LMFT).

Qualifications

  • Must apply trauma-informed, relationship-based care aligned with agency mission.
  • Commit to evidence-based practices including CBT and Solution Focused Therapy.
  • Manage a caseload of up to 12 students with ongoing assessments and documentation.
  • Interface with outside systems (DCF, DMH, LEAs, CBHI) and maintain professional communication.
  • Coordinate and facilitate treatment meetings for caseload students.
  • Provide clinical consultation to direct care staff and crisis support as needed.
  • Attend trainings and multidisciplinary team meetings; participate in rounds and on-call coverage.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Clinician provides case management and ongoing clinical services to the Res Ed students and families at Walker’s Needham Campus; provides clinical consultation to direct care and educational staff; provides ongoing assessment, treatment planning, goal focused treatment, and discharge planning for assigned youth. Must be committed to child centered, family focused, culturally competent care and strengths-based treatment.

Essential Functions
  • Under the guidance of Res Ed clinical leadership, work to ensure that all clinical services in the Res Ed program are aligned with the agency mission and core values. This includes but is not limited to services that are trauma informed, relationship based, family involved, developmentally focused, competence centered, and ecologically oriented.
  • Commit to the use of evidence-based practices to provide quality clinical treatment to students and their families, including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy.
  • Manage a caseload of up to 12 students, including providing individual therapy and family therapy as needed, as well as ongoing written assessments and documentation to be completed in a timely manner, including (but not limited to) treatment plans, IEPs, and discharge summaries.
  • Interface with outside systems including DCF, DMH, LEAs, and CBHI providers, maintain consistent and professional communication and complete documentation of all contact.
  • Coordinate and facilitate treatment meetings for students on caseload.
  • Work collaboratively with the Res Ed team to develop and implement clinical services to students in the milieu, including conducting groups.
  • Provide clinical consultation to direct care staff, crisis support to youth, and coverage on the floor as needed.
  • Participate in required trainings and additional professional development opportunities when offered.
  • Attend multidisciplinary team meetings and staff meetings.
  • Serve as Clinician On-Call for the campus on a rotating basis.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
  • Must be able to successfully pass and apply Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training
  • Must be able to successfully complete First Aid/CPR training
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm and make safe decisions in high-pressure situations
  • Capacity to work effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to learn, retain, and apply principles taught in training and supervision
  • Physical stamina to participate in activities with children
  • Ability to stand, walk, and run for extended periods, perform frequent bending, stooping, stretching, lifting (up to 10 lbs.), sitting, stairs, typing, and looking at a computer screen
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and computer experience is required
  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow through with multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a team, including during times of high stress
  • Ability to transport clients in company vehicles
Schedule
  • Monday – Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm, with flexibility for evenings and weekends based on program and operational needs
Education and Certifications
  • Master’s degree in relevant discipline (Social Work, Psychology, Counseling).
  • Clinical licensure (LCSW, LICSW, LMHC, LMFT)
Experience
  • Experience with goal oriented clinical work with youth and families.
  • Experience with the use of evidence-based clinical practices.
  • Experience with work with youth in a similar setting.
Other Requirements
  • Successfully complete all background check suitability requirements
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Valid MA driver’s license preferred
  • Bilingual capabilities are preferred, but not required
Supervision

Reports to: Assistant Director of Res Ed Clinical Services or Res Ed Clinical Supervisor

Supervises: Interns as assigned
