Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System seeks a full-time reproductive genetic counselor to serve a high-volume, diverse patient population in New York City. The role includes preconception and prenatal counseling, risk assessment, and discussion of invasive and noninvasive testing options within a hybrid in-person/telehealth model.

You will supervise students and fellows, write chart notes and letters, coordinate referrals, and report test results.

Qualifications

• 2 years of genetic counseling experience; 5 or more years of experience is preferred.
• American Board of Genetic Counseling Certification within 3 years of graduation from Genetic Counseling Program.
• Bi-lingual Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct counseling and education to patients who are pregnant/planning to become pregnant regarding teratogen exposures, abnormal ultrasound findings, positive carrier status, advanced maternal/paternal age, and family history of complex traits.
• Provide counseling, continuity of care and follow-up genetic counseling services via a hybrid model (in-person and telehealth).
• Supervise Master's level genetic counseling students, fellows, residents, and medical students during rotations.
• Write chart notes, patient summary letters, and physician consultation letters.
• Assist administrative staff with scheduling and referrals to ensure timely patient visits.
• Report and interpret carrier and prenatal screening/testing results for physicians and patients.
• Coordinate communication with diagnostic laboratories and arrange follow-up testing and counseling.
