Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • 3–5 years of finance or accounting experience with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role involving financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports with key findings, trends, and recommendations.
  • Establish and monitor budget reporting requirements, timelines, and cadence.
  • Ensure reporting compliance with fiscal requirements, budgets, policies, and guidelines.
  • Review financial reporting including budget-to-actual, cash flows, payroll, and related expenses.
  • Design and develop comprehensive financial reports meeting stakeholder needs.
  • Lead meetings with stakeholders to review data, requirements, and compliance concerns.

Job description

The Reporting Manager plays a critical role in supporting the Budget Management Director by preparing comprehensive financial reports, monitoring reporting requirements, evaluating financial data, and identifying key findings and potential risks.

This position requires a detail-oriented finance professional with strong analytical, reporting, leadership, and stakeholder management skills. The Reporting Manager will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to promote accurate, timely, and reliable financial reporting and support informed decision-making.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports summarizing financial data, key findings, trends, risks, and recommendations for the Budget Management Director.
  • Establish and monitor financial and budget reporting requirements, timelines, and reporting cadence.
  • Monitor reporting compliance with applicable fiscal requirements, approved budgets, policies, and established financial guidelines.
  • Review and analyze financial reporting, including budget-to-actual results, cash flows, accounts payable, reserve funds, fund extensions, tax credits, payroll and headcount, and disaster-related expenses.
  • Design and develop comprehensive financial and management reports that meet organizational and stakeholder requirements.
  • Monitor relevant bank accounts on a weekly basis and identify unusual activity or potential liquidity concerns.
  • Identify and communicate liquidity risks and other financial concerns to the appropriate teams to support timely action.
  • Oversee monthly fund reporting to help ensure restricted funds are properly accounted for and financial calculations are accurate.
  • Coordinate with relevant government entities and other stakeholders to validate financial information, address reporting gaps, and resolve inconsistencies.
  • Lead recurring meetings with key stakeholders to review financial data, reporting requirements, outstanding information, and potential compliance concerns.
  • Communicate reporting or compliance findings and provide recommendations to strengthen financial management and reporting practices.
  • Review team deliverables to ensure accuracy, relevance, quality, and timely completion.
  • Promote effective communication and collaboration among internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to financial reporting, data quality, controls, and reporting processes.

Key Relationships

Internal Relationships

Regular interaction with directors, managers, and team members to support organizational objectives, financial reporting requirements, and management priorities.

External Relationships

Frequent interaction with government agencies, advisors, attorneys, consultants, and other external stakeholders, as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position includes supervisory responsibilities and may oversee team members involved in financial reporting, analysis, and related activities.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in finance or accounting, including at least one year in a leadership or supervisory role involving financial reporting processes.
  • Experience managing financial projects from planning through implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute plans aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, compliance, and reporting requirements.
  • Experience with financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis.

Preferred Experience

  • Working with local or federal government entities.
  • Presenting financial information, findings, and recommendations to senior management.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting and analytical tools.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial analysis and reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
  • Proficiency in financial data collection, validation, reconciliation, and management.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, compliance standards, and reporting best practices.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting frameworks.
  • Understanding of cash flow management, liquidity analysis, financing techniques, and debt instruments.
  • Knowledge of internal and external audit processes and the ability to address findings and recommendations.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial information, identify trends and anomalies, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, monitoring, and timely delivery.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to guide, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Resourceful and proactive in obtaining information from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to prepare clear, concise, and executive-ready reports, presentations, and technical documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to adapt effectively to changing priorities and a dynamic work environment.
  • Advanced English proficiency, including excellent written and verbal communication skills.
