Job summary

Trinity Consultants in Salt Lake City, UT, invites a Reporting and QA Associate to join our environmental data team. You will review, validate, and report air quality and related data, ensuring defensible analyses and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include preparing technical reports, data summaries, and client communications, plus contributing to QA processes and project support across emissions inventories, NEPA reviews, and monitoring program development as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant environmental field.
  • Approximately three years of experience reviewing or reporting environmental data.
  • Experience preparing technical/regulatory reports is valued.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State air quality monitoring requirements and EPA QA practices is beneficial.

Job description

The Reporting and Quality Assurance Associate is responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and reporting air quality, meteorological, and other environmental monitoring data. This role combines environmental data analysis, quality assurance, technical writing, and project support to ensure data are accurate, defensible, and meet regulatory and project-specific quality requirements

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review and validate environmental monitoring data using established procedures and applicable regulatory and project requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve data quality issues by collaborating with field personnel, technical staff, and project managers.
  • Maintain complete and organized project records supporting data validation, quality assurance, and reporting activities.
  • Prepare technical reports, data summaries, memoranda, proposals, and client correspondence related to environmental monitoring and data quality.
  • Interpret and communicate technical information clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Develop and review tables, figures, and supporting technical materials.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, technical staff, and clients throughout the monitoring and reporting process.
  • Support additional environmental consulting projects such as emissions inventories, air permit calculations, NEPA reviews, and monitoring program development, based on experience and interest.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Excellent technical and professional writing skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing accurate, defensible work.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply Federal and State environmental regulations and quality assurance documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, particularly Word and Excel. Experience with environmental databases or data validation software is beneficial.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, meteorology, atmospheric science, engineering, technical communications, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Approximately three years of experience reviewing, evaluating, or reporting environmental or air quality data preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, regulatory documents, or data validation reports is highly valued.
  • Working knowledge of Federal and State air quality monitoring requirements and EPA quality assurance practices is beneficial.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position does not or does not have supervisory responsibilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Primarily computer-based; extended periods of computer work required.
  • Occasional travel to client facilities, monitoring stations, offices, or training sessions may be required.
  • Field visits may include walking, standing, climbing stairs or ladders, and working around monitoring equipment.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
