The Reporting and Analytics Manager leads the analytics function supporting the HPN UM & CM delegation oversight operation and is accountable for the health plan reporting process, including group-level validation, timely collection of submissions, and preparation of universes for DMHC and NCQA audits. The position directs the development of Tableau dashboards, SQL queries and automated reporting that extract and analyze health care information across utilization, turn-around time compliance, medical group performance measurement and compliance monitoring. Effective presentation of data in user-friendly visuals and written summaries is an important part of this position.
Working collaboratively with Medical Group data analytic teams, develops and maintains accurate data mapping to the HPN data warehouse to assure consistent, valid and comparable data across multiple medical groups with disparate source systems. Leads data management and ETL activity and is accountable for governance of the analytics estate — assuring that code, packages and workbooks are held in a single authoritative location, follow naming and documentation standards, and are reproducible by another analyst without the author present. The position also owns departmental applications serving UM leadership, gathering requirements from UM stakeholders, translating them into functional specifications, and assuring each application continues to meet the business need through release, user support and documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Oversee the health plan reporting process, ensuring group-level validation and timely collection of submissions.
- Create and leverage analytics to support HPN groups’ performance and operations
- Maintain and enhance a centralized report repository in HPN’s knowledge base, training analysts to execute reporting scripts as needed.
- Identify and implement process improvements for health plan reporting and provide strategic support to groups where applicable.
- Direct the preparation and delivery of ad-hoc and routine reports to fulfill internal and external reporting requirements.
- Supervise universe preparation for DMHC and NCQA audits, ensuring comprehensive data validation and collection.
- Ensure accurate and timely data reporting aligns with department and organizational objectives.
- Lead data management initiatives, including Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes, to meet reporting and compliance needs.
- Leverage existing data sources for reporting purposes and escalates to the director when specific data gaps hinder reporting capabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize reporting workflows, validation processes, and data integration efforts.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and data-driven decision-making within the team, ensuring alignment with evolving business needs.
- Own departmental applications serving UM leadership, directing requirements gathering with UM stakeholders and translating business needs into functional specifications.
- Manage the application lifecycle, including prioritization of enhancements, release coordination, user acceptance testing, end-user training and maintenance of supporting documentation.
- Serve as the liaison between UM business owners and technical resources, whether internal analysts or external vendors, assuring delivered functionality meets the stated business need.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, health informatics, computer science or related field strongly preferred; an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience will be considered.
- Reporting and Visualization
- 5+ years developing and managing Tableau dashboards, including interactive dashboards, performance optimization and adherence to data visualization best practices.
- Experience training analysts or stakeholders on Tableau usage is preferred.
Technical Experience
- 7+ years of SQL programming experience related to reporting and data extraction, with demonstrated ability to write, optimize and troubleshoot complex queries against large datasets.
- Experience with ETL processes and data warehousing, including the Microsoft BI stack — SQL Server, SSIS and SSRS.
- Experience with Python for reporting automation and data processing (pandas, pyodbc, openpyxl or equivalent).
- Documentation and version control practices sufficient to ensure work products are reproducible and maintainable by others without the author present.
- Analysis and Data Integrity
- 7+ years producing, analyzing and validating reports, with the ability to translate business needs into actionable insights.
- Experience in data integrity validation, root cause analysis, and process automation for reporting efficiency.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery practices — iterative development, backlog prioritization and sprint-based planning — is preferred.
- 7+ years in a healthcare organization.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance, including HIPAA, NCQA and DMHC audits, and payer/provider reporting requirements.
- Experience with claims data, membership data or quality metrics is preferred.
- Leadership
- 2+ years of leadership or management experience in analytics and reporting, including assigning projects, providing performance feedback and guiding professional growth.
- Demonstrated ability to build team self-sufficiency, so that reporting continuity is maintained during absences and resources can be reallocated as priorities change.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, reset priorities day to day to meet deadlines, and seek direction where priorities conflict.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $116,000.00 and $166,000.00 per year however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
