Job summary

Albertsons Companies is seeking a Replenishment & Planning Manager – Produce in Tracy, CA. Based at the distribution center, you will lead purchasing of Fresh and Dry Produce and Floral items, coordinating buying activities to meet department and company profit goals while maintaining integrity across the organization.

You will build relationships with manufacturers, vendors and internal teams, drive KPI-based strategy, and monitor market trends to optimize costs, quality and service levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent Produce Procurement and Supply Chain experience. Specialization in Agricultural Sciences a plus

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain professional relationships with division personnel and communicate about products and promotions to procurement team and distribution center operations.
• Define and provide overall department goal setting and direction based on KPIs.
• Interface with other department heads and division personnel to accomplish job functions.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with manufacturers, vendors, logistic companies, store operations, distribution center and division office personnel.
• Attend key meetings to maintain awareness of programs and issues providing relevant department information in support of programs.
• Ensure the established sales plan is understood and executed by the procurement team.
• Support Distribution P&L with analyses on procurement data.
• Monitor department results versus projections and recommend corrective actions.
• Review operating reports with procurement team and take necessary actions.
• Define best practices for buying team with Corporate Director of Procurement.
• Manage vendor adherence to product specifications through audits and cutting tests; ensure compliance with regulations.
• Monitor key commodity markets and provide forecast information to Sales Manager.
• Visit stores to monitor programs and gather feedback on implementation.
• Collaborate with Corporate Replenishment Team on strategic programs.

Main Responsibilities

The Supply Chain Department has an opening for a Replenishment & Planning Manager – Produce.

The Produce Replenishment and Planning Manager is responsible for the efficient buying of Fresh and Dry Produce as well as Floral products assigned for the Distribution Center. Coordinate all buying activities to ensure achievement of all department, distribution center, and company profit objectives. Ensure that the highest standards of professional integrity are maintained throughout the assigned department.

The position will be based in the Tracy, CA distribution center.

• Develop and maintain professional working relationships with division personnel and facilitate beneficial communication related to products and promotional activity to procurement team and distribution center operations.
• Define and provide overall department goal setting and direction based on key performance indicators.
• Interface with other department heads and division personnel to accomplish job functions.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with manufacturers, vendors, logistic companies, store operations, distribution center and division office personnel.
• Attend key meetings to maintain awareness of programs and issues providing relevant department information in support of fundamental and strategic programs.
• Ensure the established sales plan is understood and executed by the procurement team.
• Participate in developing and managing Distribution P&L by providing analyses on relevant procurement data.
• Monitor department results compared to projections, identify solutions and recommend corrective actions.
• Review and analyze operating reports with procurement team and take appropriate action when necessary.
• Develop and define best practices for buying team with support from Corporate Director of Procurement.
• Manage vendor adherence to product specifications through distribution center audits and cutting tests. Ensure product specifications are in compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory and company requirements.
• Monitor key commodity markets and provide forecast information to the Sales Manager in support of future market dynamics. Obtain the best possible costs, quality and service level at all times.
• Visit stores, as needed, to monitor programs, obtain store feedback and assess overall implementation effectiveness as needed.
• Work with Corporate Replenishment Team on strategic programs where applicable to implement overall best practices.

We Are Looking For Candidates Who Possess The Following

• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in PC systems required.
• Strong understanding of produce commodity markets and published industry reporting platforms.
• Must have a full understanding of regulatory requirements including those of USDA, USDC and FDA where applicable.
• Ability to recognize and understand industry trends and impacts to the region and enterprise.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to make appropriate decisions in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
• Strong planning, organizing, and negotiating skills.
• Must have the ability to represent the company's interests in negotiations with outside professionals and suppliers.
• Ability to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions. High degree of initiative and sense of urgency.
• Exceptional systems skills especially MS Office and Supply Chain systems.
• Strong detailed understanding of business operations.
• Working knowledge of procurement, logistics, inventory management, marketing, accounting and financial management practices.
• Demonstrated people leader: build strong relationships, hire great people, commit to the growth of individuals on team and lead by example.
• Travel Requirements: 5% to 10%.

Education Level

• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent Produce Procurement and Supply Chain experience. Specialization in Agricultural Sciences a plus

Experience Level

• 5 - 10 years of experience in multiple facets of Supply Chain including Retail Operations, Buying, Logistics and Manufacturing.
• 7 plus years of Purchasing or Vendor Management experience in the retail industry; experience with a major grocery retailer chain in purchasing or strategic sourcing role with responsibility for working with major national vendors of consumer-packaged goods or commodity food products.
• 5 - 10 years of people management experience
