Job summary

Wind River Environmental is seeking a Repair Technician to perform standard repairs and evaluations on septic systems, following local building codes and health department guidelines. You will educate customers on service options and assist with financing and additional products.

Key duties include pump checkouts, pipe and lid replacements, site evaluations for the Repairs Division, real estate inspections, camera inspections, and line snaking for residential and commercial properties.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ years of sewage pump control panel experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • DOT drug screen, medical certification, physical exam and road exams required.
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays; on-call during rotations.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety rules and exercise safe work practices.
  • Perform pump checkouts above grade or by confined space entry.
  • Perform basic pipe, baffle, riser, lid replacements with manual digging involved.
  • Perform site evaluations to determine next steps for Repairs Division.
  • Perform open pit inspections for real estate transactions.
  • Provide camera and snaking of lines for residential and commercial properties.
  • Direct workers in spreading crushed rock and gravel, laying tile drainpipe, and connecting drainpipes to branch sewers.
  • Verify levels of rock or gravel, base, and tile drainpipe using surveyor's or carpenter's level.

POSITION SUMMARY

The basic function of the Repair Technician is to provide standard repairs and evaluation services according to local building codes and by the local health departments. Provides related services to customers in their homes and businesses and sells accessory services, products and service agreements. Performs inspections for real estate transactions and evaluations of problematic septic systems. Utilizes customer service training to educate and assist customers in choosing service, products and finance options.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Follow safety rules and exercise safe work practice.
  • Perform pump checkouts either above grade or by confined space entry.
  • Perform basic pipe, baffle, riser, lid replacements with manual digging involved.
  • Perform site evaluations to determine next steps for Repairs Division.
  • Perform open pit inspections for real estate transactions.
  • Provide camera and snaking of lines for residential and commercial properties.
  • Direct workers engaged in spreading crushed rock and gravel, laying tile drainpipe, and connecting drainpipes to branch sewers.
  • Verify levels of rock or gravel, base, and tile drainpipe using surveyor's or carpenter's level.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Work with inspectors, suppliers and associate technicians to complete jobs correctly and in the best interest of customers, while abiding by all codes.
  • Draw simple septic diagrams and read them.
  • Understand instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Read and interpret documents including company policies and procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, maps and road signs.
  • Speak, cooperate and communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and management.
  • Work independently and manage pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Basic computer literacy including email and internet skills.
  • Perform basic math functions.
BASE PAY RANGES

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $20.00 - $25.00 hourly at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma, or equivalent is required.
  • 1+ years of sewage pump control panel experience is required.
  • Previous experience with lift station preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Acceptable driving record.
  • Must pass DOT drug screen, medical certification, physical exam and road exams.
  • Operate in a drug‑free workplace.
  • Meet physical demands evaluation.
  • Work overtime including weekends and holidays.
  • Work on‑call rotations as needed.
  • Comply with all FMCSA and DOT regulations.
  • Practice safe work methods to remain accident and injury free. Have the ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non‑routine tasks and make adjustments to avoid loss, injury or accident.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to your job.
