Job summary

Barnes Group, MB Aerospace division, seeks an experienced Engineer to lead repair process development and part-family handling in Michigan. You will craft work orders, tool paths, and manufacturing instructions, ensuring safety and efficiency in repair procedures.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering with aerospace/manufacturing experience, plus strong problem-solving, communication, and ERP/MRP familiarity. Collaboration with suppliers, customers, and regulators is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline is required.
  • 5 years’ aerospace or manufacturing experience preferred, with repair/overhaul of aircraft components.
  • Advanced understanding of machining approaches, fixturing, heat treatment, welding, brazing, and thermal spray.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP software such as Syteline is a plus.
  • Familiarity with industry specs, processes, and materials; strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to produce technical publications and alternative repair processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead processing of assigned part families and build work orders for each part.
  • Establish operation sequences, work instructions, and best practices for safe repair procedures.
  • Provide technical support for procurement, manufacturing, receiving, repair, and certification of repairs.
  • Evaluate parts for repair feasibility, producibility, and cost.
  • Conduct dimensional analysis to support new repairs.
  • Create CAD models and production drawings per ANSI/ASME GD&T; prepare MOS.
  • Develop processes compliant with FAA and customer regulations.
  • Coordinate with departments for process-improvement initiatives.
  • Interface with OEMs, customers, regulatory agencies, and project staff.
  • Ensure conformity with MB Aerospace internal, federal, state, and local laws.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the processing of assigned part families / programs. This includes evaluating and building work orders for each individual part, as each part may have different repairable areas.
  • Help establish operation sequences, work instructions, and best practices to ensure efficient and safe repair procedures are developed.
  • Provide technical support for procurement, manufacturing, receiving, repair, and certification of repairs.
  • Evaluate parts and assemblies for repair feasibility, producibility, cost, tooling, and outside processing.
  • Conduct and prepare detailed dimensional analysis of sample parts to support development of new repair.
  • Create CAD models and production drawings using ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards. Prepare Manufacturing Operation Sheets (MOS's) to clearly communicate process details to operators.
  • Develop processes to ensure work is performed per FAA regulations, Customers regulations and Repair Station Manual.
  • Coordinates with other departments to develop a unified approach for process improvement of product.
  • Interfaces with OEMs, customers, regulatory agencies, and project-related people within the Company.
  • Ensures adherence to applicable MB Aerospace internal, federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to compliance and takes responsibility to ensure ongoing conformity with such rules and regulations.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline is required
  • Preferred - 5 years’ experience in an aerospace or manufacturing environment. Experience with repair and overhaul of aircraft engine components, including complex welded/brazed assemblies.
  • Preferred - Advanced understanding of machining approaches (lathe, Mill, EDM, etc.), fixturing, heat treatment, welding, brazing and thermal spray.
  • Experience with Syteline or another ERP/MRP software is a plus.
  • An entry level candidate with aerospace interest would be considered.
  • Familiarity with industry specifications, processes, and materials.
  • Experience writing technical publications and repairs, designing alternate repair processes to achieve stated goals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Ability to use technology effectively and efficiently to manage workload.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and ability to create documents, reports and briefing materials in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the USA
  • - FAA mandated pre-employment drug & alcohol screening is required, as well as ongoing random testing.
