Job summary

AESC US is seeking a Repack Technician for our Blythewood, SC operation. You will perform visual inspection, repack, and testing as part of a battery repack line, adhering to safety and quality standards.

The role requires reading work instructions, using hand tools, and lifting up to 35 lbs. Shift availability includes 1st and 2nd shifts, with cross-shift support as needed.

Qualifications

  • Inspect components for damage, defects, and non-conformances and document findings.
  • Operate hand tools, fixtures, material handling equipment, and production equipment safely.
  • Follow live cell safety protocols and use PPE when handling high-voltage cells.

Job Description

The Repack Technician performs visual inspection, testing (if required), and repack of BMW EV battery modules as part of AESC’s repack operation in Blythewood, SC. This role requires strict adherence to documented work instructions, safety protocols, and quality standards. The Repack Technician works as part of a production team and is expected to maintain high throughput while meeting all quality and safety requirements.

Shift Availability

We are hiring for both 1st Shift and 2nd Shift. Shift assignment will be discussed during the interview process. Candidates must be available for their assigned shift and willing to support cross‑shift coverage as operational needs require.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform visual inspection, testing (if required) and repack of EV batteries following standardized work instructions.
  • Inspect components for physical damage, defects, and non‑conformances and document findings accurately.
  • Operate hand tools, fixtures, various material handling equipment (including electric walkie stacker lifts and pallet jacks) and production equipment safely and correctly.
  • Follow all electrical “live cell” safety protocols when handling high‑voltage battery cells, including use of PPE.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant workstation in accordance with 5S standards.
  • Record production data, process deviations, and quality observations in tracking systems.
  • Communicate defects, line stoppages, or safety concerns to the Team Leader or Supervisor immediately.
  • Participate in daily team meetings, continuous improvement activities, and training sessions.
  • Support new associate onboarding and knowledge transfer as directed.
  • Comply with all AESC safety policies, including battery fire protocols and incident reporting requirements.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 1 year of manufacturing, assembly, or production experience.
  • Ability to read and follow written work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude, including use of hand and torque tools.
  • Ability to work in a production environment with physical requirements including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 35 lbs.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality output.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience in automotive, battery, or electronics manufacturing.
    • Familiarity with 5S, lean manufacturing, or continuous improvement practices.
    • Prior experience handling or working near high‑voltage systems (with required safety training).

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic. The individual must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees, management, customers and suppliers.
