What You Will Be Doing:

As a Rental Field Service Technician - Mechanic, you will troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs on customer and Yancey rental equipment in the field. Candidates must furnish their own tools, operate industry-related heavy equipment, and complete work accurately and promptly.

This position is based out of the Savannah store but involves work mainly in the Southeast Region.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and identify mechanical issues on heavy equipment.
• Source and order parts as needed.
• Use diagnostic equipment properly.
• Repair or replace components of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air conditioning, suspension, drive trains, electrical systems, steering, braking, and operator comfort systems.
• Perform welding, brazing, fabricate, and modify parts and structures.
• Complete work orders, including warranty info, accurately and on time.
• Operate equipment and vehicles with necessary licenses and certificates.
• Follow quality standards and safety procedures.
• Work overtime on short notice.
• Maintain service vehicle inspection records, daily inspections, and driver logs as required by the Department of Transportation.
• Keep trucks and equipment clean to maintain a professional appearance.
• Photograph equipment as needed.
• Obtain a CDL license if required.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Participate in safety programs and work safely.
• Maintain a safe driving record.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Who We Are Looking For:

Successful candidates should have strong mechanical aptitude, tool knowledge, and a desire to learn. A sense of urgency and commitment to customer service are essential. Ability to follow directions and work independently is required.

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

• At least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, computer, and mechanical systems, welding, and diagnostic testing.
• Ability to operate equipment safely, follow instructions, read manuals, and work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to interpret technical schematics and manuals.
• Basic computer skills (Windows and email).
• Valid driving record according to company standards.
• Skilled in basic computer applications.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

• Trade school, college, or university coursework in mechanics, hydraulics, or automotive electronics is desirable.
