Job Opportunity: Rental Field Service Technician

Sign-on Bonus: $5,000 for new hires, payable in two installments: $2,500 after 90 days and $2,500 after 180 days of employment.

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington D.C., is hiring a Rental Field Service Technician in District Heights, Maryland. The technician applies advanced mechanical skills to perform maintenance and repairs on Caterpillar and related rental equipment both in the shop and at customer sites. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, determining repair procedures, and preparing parts requisitions.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of three years of experience performing advanced mechanical service and repairs on Caterpillar and similar equipment.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Thorough knowledge of engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and related components.
• Ability to troubleshoot and analyze complex problems quickly using logic and critical thinking.
• Ability to repair Caterpillar and allied equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Professional interaction with customers.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-directed, well-organized, with the ability to prioritize workload and provide excellent customer service.
• Willingness to learn and apply new knowledge.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, handle objects, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and sit. Must regularly lift/move up to 70 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Compensation & Benefits:

Starting range: $32.34 - $45.35 per hour. Actual salary depends on experience, skills, qualifications, location, and other factors. Compensation may include performance-based incentives.
