Job summary

Ulteig is seeking a Design Engineer to support dynamic power system studies in Renewables – Electrical. Focus on PSSE, PSLF and PSCAD models for interconnection and NERC-related work.

The role involves developing renewable plant models, conducting dynamic studies, and collaborating with clients to meet grid and compliance requirements. 2+ years in power systems and Python are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum 2 years of experience, with at least 1 year in power systems.
• Experience with steady-state or dynamic analysis using PSSE and PSCAD.
• Experience with transmission operators (ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO) is preferred.
• Programming in Python preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop PSSE, PSLF, TSAT and PSCAD models of renewable plants.
• Perform model quality tests and benchmarking.
• Tune dynamic model blocks to meet performance requirements.
• Support interconnection applications with design information.
• Conduct preliminary system studies, like reactive power studies.
• Collaborate with clients to address needs and deadlines.
• Stay updated on interconnection processes and ISO/RTO requirements.
• Develop tools to automate model quality tests.
