Job summary

EDF power solutions North America is hiring a Renewable Energy Technician to support wind turbines, solar PV systems and storage projects under the supervision of an experienced technician. You will assist with preventive and corrective maintenance, testing, and basic repairs while upholding safety and EDF core values of safety, teamwork and accountability.

The role requires a high school diploma and 0–2 years of experience for Technician 1 or 2–4 years for Technician 2, plus OSHA 10 and GWO

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required for both levels.
  • 2–4 years of renewable energy experience for Technician 2; basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic components.
  • Must meet OSHA 10 and GWO certifications (BST, BTT, CoHE, Slinger/Signaler, NFPA 70E).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintaining company property and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Support a Technician 2 or higher‑level technician by servicing equipment and assisting with maintenance, installation, inspection, and repair.
  • Test electrical components and mechanical/hydraulic systems and collect data for testing and analysis.
  • Work safely under all circumstances and seek guidance for unfamiliar tasks.

Salary Range

The full pay range for this role is $25.00 to $38.00 per hour, and the good‑faith estimated starting pay for this position upon hire is $27.00 to $32.00 per hour. Salary decisions are based on experience, education, performance, internal equity, and location.

Scope of Job

Under specific direction from the site manager and supervision of an experienced technician, this position will assist experienced technicians with conducting maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair of wind turbines and/or photovoltaic power and energy storage systems. It will learn and apply EDF Core values: safety, teamwork, respect, passion, transparency, good sense, and accountability.

Responsibilities
  • 80% – In the field:
    • Assist with maintaining company property and equipment safely and efficiently.
    • Support a Technician 2 or higher‑level technician by servicing equipment based on type and manufacturer; assist with routine maintenance, new equipment installation, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair.
    • Assist with testing electrical components and mechanical/hydraulic systems, collecting equipment data for testing and analysis.
    • Work safely under all circumstances; seek guidance for unfamiliar or unsafe tasks.
    • Attend required safety and technical training.
    • Respectfully work in a team environment and apply EDF core values.
  • 15% – Administrative duties: documenting completed jobs, implementing supply orders, completing daily work orders, time tracking, and other required paperwork for the specific project/assignment.
  • 5% – Other duties as assigned.
Supervision of Others

None.

Working Conditions

100% of the time is spent working in the renewable asset field, with marginal time in the office environment. The position requires work on platforms or skids, wearing personal protective equipment, and repetitive use of legs, arms, hands, and fingers. Work hours: 8 hrs/day, 40 hrs/week, with overtime and night shifts as required.

Qualifications
Renewable Energy Technician 1
  • High school Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0 to 2 years of experience within the renewable energy sector or an equivalent field.
Renewable Energy Technician 2
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in renewable energy or a similar discipline.
  • High school Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components.
  • Basic understanding of schematics and correct use of a multimeter.
  • Familiarity with CSA Z462 / NFPA 70E.
  • Must meet Qualified Electrical Worker standards and hold certifications: OSHA 10, GWO Basic Safety Training (BST), GWO Basic Technical Training (BTT), GWO CoHE, GWO Slinger and Signaler, NFPA 70E, and 70B.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities Required For Both Levels
  • Ability to successfully complete applicable safety and technical training program for the entry‑level technician.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic computer knowledge.
  • Must possess a valid current driver’s license and meet organizational vehicle operation requirements.
  • Knowledge of electronics, mechanical components, and measurement devices is a plus.
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Physical Requirements For Both Levels
  • Must meet weight restrictions for life‑saving fall‑arrest equipment; maximum employee weight (for wind only) must not exceed 285 lbs.
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, and have good hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Must possess good vision and hearing to detect hazards and communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to stand, crouch, walk, and work for extended periods.
  • Must be able to operate company vehicles on site and on public roads.
  • Must lift or move up to 35 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Must be able to work in an electrical‑mechanical environment.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, stairs, and structures to heights more than 91 m (300 ft).
  • Must be comfortable working at heights, including climbing up and descending towers, entering nacelles and hubs at extreme heights.
  • Must be comfortable with various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, and rain.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
