Placements24 client is seeking a proactive Renewable Energy Project Developer to identify, assess, and secure opportunities in the Eastern Cape and surrounding regions. You will handle site acquisition, permits, and PPA negotiations, engaging with communities and stakeholders.

The role requires a strong understanding of the renewable energy market, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to move projects from concept to financial close, with a hybrid East London-based team and travel as

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Environmental Science, or related field.
• 5+ years in renewable energy project development with a track record of origination and execution.
• Experience in site acquisition, permitting, and PPA negotiation in the South African energy sector.
• Strong understanding of solar and/or wind technologies and project finance principles.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate potential sites for renewable energy projects, considering resource availability and grid connection feasibility.
• Negotiate and secure land leases, PPAs, and other necessary contracts.
• Manage permitting and environmental assessment processes for new developments.
• Build and maintain relationships with landowners, local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders.
• Conduct financial modeling and feasibility studies to support project viability.
• Collaborate with engineering, legal, and finance teams to advance projects through the development pipeline.

About the Role Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Renewable Energy Project Developer to identify, assess, and secure new development opportunities within the Eastern Cape and surrounding regions. This role is instrumental in expanding the company's portfolio of solar, wind, and other sustainable energy projects. You will be responsible for site acquisition, securing permits, engaging with local communities, and forging relationships with key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the renewable energy market, excellent negotiation skills, and a proven ability to bring projects from concept to financial close. This position is key to driving the company's mission of advancing clean energy solutions in East London and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and travel as required within the East London area and beyond.
