Job summary

Linea Energy is seeking a part-time Policy Intern in our San Francisco office to support state renewable energy policy and RTO regulatory work. The intern will conduct deep dives on policy and market design issues, participate in industry group and stakeholder calls, and support data analysis.

Candidates should be enrolled as juniors/seniors or graduate students with interest in energy policy. This paid internship requires 10–20 hours per week and is based in San Francisco, with an expectation

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in public policy, economics, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in energy policy, electricity regulation, or clean energy markets through coursework, internships, research, or independent work.
  • Strong writing and synthesis skills, with the ability to distill dense regulatory material into clear, concise summaries.
  • Comfortability with data analysis is a plus.
  • Ability to work in-person in our San Francisco office approximately one day per week.

Responsibilities

  • Track and summarize state renewable energy policy developments, including legislation, public utility commission proceedings, incentive and procurement programs, and permitting and siting rules.
  • Create briefings on individual markets, including utility planning materials, load growth, and local policy.
  • Conduct deep dives on RTO and ISO regulatory issues, including interconnection reform, capacity and energy market design, transmission planning, and resource adequacy.
  • Participate in industry group, trade association, and stakeholder working group calls, synthesizing key insights for the commercial and development teams.
  • Support quantitative analysis of market and policy data, including interconnection queue analysis and pricing trends.
