About the Role

Our client, a pioneering non-profit organization driving the adoption of renewable energy solutions in Upington, Northern Cape , is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Renewable Energy Advocate . This role is instrumental in raising awareness, fostering community engagement, and facilitating the implementation of sustainable energy projects. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, excellent communication and advocacy skills, and a commitment to environmental sustainability within the Northern Cape . You will be a key voice in promoting clean energy solutions and their benefits to the community of Upington and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement advocacy strategies to promote renewable energy adoption. Educate communities and stakeholders on the benefits and practicalities of renewable energy solutions (solar, wind, etc.). Organize and conduct workshops, seminars, and public awareness campaigns. Build and maintain relationships with local government, businesses, community groups, and potential energy users. Identify opportunities for renewable energy projects and facilitate their development. Provide technical information and guidance on renewable energy options and installations. Monitor policy developments related to renewable energy and advocate for supportive frameworks. Prepare reports, presentations, and outreach materials. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to advance renewable energy initiatives. Track project progress and advocate for the successful implementation of renewable energy solutions in Upington . Engage with residential, commercial, and agricultural sectors to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy use.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering (Energy focus), Public Policy, or a related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in renewable energy advocacy, project coordination, or community engagement related to sustainability. Strong knowledge of renewable energy technologies (solar PV, wind, etc.) and energy efficiency principles. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders. Experience in community outreach and education programs. Strong organizational and project management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Passion for environmental sustainability and clean energy. Understanding of the energy landscape and opportunities in the Northern Cape . Willingness to travel within the Upington region and surrounding areas.
